Nexus Recovery Center, Inc. provides recovery and sustained independence from alcohol and drug abuse for disadvantaged women, including women with children and adolescent girls. Nexus removes the common barriers women often face when seeking treatment, including childcare issues for single mothers and ability to pay. Nexus is one of the few substance abuse programs in the nation that can accommodate children in residential treatment. Many of our clients come to us when they are pregnant, motivated to give birth to a healthy baby. Although we do take insurance and private pay clients, most of our clients are eligible for state, county or city funded programs.
Nexus Recovery Center has provided residential and outpatient treatment in the North Texas area for 37 years and has assisted more than 19,000 women, teenagers and children. Located on 12 acres in east Dallas, our campus includes three dormitories, a childcare center, a medical clinic, two playgrounds, an outdoor recreation facilities, a cafeteria, group rooms, outpatient center, an aftercare center, administration, an auditorium, a classroom for adolescents and laundry facilities. Clients go off campus to experience outside AA/NA meetings and for some medical needs.
To facilitate maximum accessibility, Nexus offers outpatient services at our main campus and at our Lemmon Avenue location. Childcare services are available at both locations while clients receive outpatient treatment.
Nexus works with the entire family whose lives have been turned upside down by substance abuse. Parenting classes, family education and counseling, life skills training, and on-site childcare, combined with Nexus' award-winning treatment programs provide the tools to restore the family and create a brighter future for everyone.
Nexus is accredited by The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission is the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Accreditation by The Joint Commission requires organization-wide dedication to providing safe, client-focused care, treatment and services.
Nexus Recovery Center is funded, in part, by the Texas Department of State Health Services, which contracts with many agencies that provide services to the medically indigent. Other funders include the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), City of Dallas, Dallas County Community Supervision and Corrections Department's DIVERT Court and Treatment Alternative to Incarceration Program (TAIP), Tarrant Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse; and the juvenile probation departments of Cooke, Dallas, Montague, Tarrant and Williamson counties.
Other funding comes from individuals, corporations, the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Women's Auxiliary of Nexus, Preston Center Rotary Club and numerous private foundations.
Our mission is to serve as a link to sobriety, independence and dignity for low-income women and their families affected by addiction.
We inspire hope, offer respect, and honor the unique differences of female addicts.
"We believe people are capable of dramatic change when in a nurturing and supportive environment."
Nexus provides the nurturing and supportive environment that female addicts need. We also believe in assisting the entire family affected by abuse, especially children. Not only do we provide onsite childcare for our clients, but we also provide access to therapeutic services for our clients’ children as well.
We believe recovery is a lifelong journey. We provide a continuum of care, including different levels of intensity of treatment. There is something for any female seeking recovery, no matter where she may be in that process.
