Faces & Voices of Recovery
Faces & Voices of Recovery was founded in 2001 at a national summit of 200 recovery advocates.  Faces & Voices of Recovery seeks to support advocates that work to develop and implement public policies that support recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs.  The organization also strives to break down barriers that preclude access to recovery, change public attitudes to prioritize addiction recovery and show the public and policymakers that recovery is happening for millions of Americans and their families in communities across America.

Gift From Within

Gift From Within is a non-profit organization dedicated to those who suffer post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), those at risk for PTSD, and those who care for traumatized individuals. This agency develops and disseminates educational material, including videotapes, articles, books, and other resources through its website. It also maintains a roster of survivors who are willing to participate in an international network of peer support.

NA is one of the many self-help groups based on the AA model. NA focuses on other drug problems.

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
NIAAA provides leadership in the national effort to reduce alcohol-related problems by conducting and supporting research in a wide range of scientific areas including genetics, neuroscience, epidemiology, health risks and benefits of alcohol consumption, prevention, and treatment.  The web site contains helpful information for alcoholics, family members, healthcare professionals and media.

Prevention Online is a service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.  This site is a valuable resource with extensive information about addiction.  This information includes questions to ask when seeking treatment for yourself or a loved one, information about the many benefits of treatment and inspiring stories from people in recovery.

Texas Department of State Health Services
The Texas Department of State Health Services provides funding for prevention, intervention and treatment services through contracts with about 200 community organizations (including Nexus) that serve more than 750,000 Texans each year The agency also provides an information and referral hot line, (877) 9-NO DRUG and provides 24-hour bilingual service to Texans who need crisis counseling or drug and alcohol information.
